Liz Gets Haircut for Childhood Cancer Awareness Day Sept. 12, 2009

Picture
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and September12, 2009 was Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. On Saturday, Liz Shagen got her haircut to donate to children with cancer. Liz, age 8, is John Eric's cousin. When John Eric was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in September of 2007 she decided she wanted to let her hair grow so that she could have it cut to help kids with cancer. What better day to have it done then on Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. We would like to Thank Liz and the girls at Crazy Chicks Salon for their generous donation of hair and their time for such a worthy cause.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Picture
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Everyday 46 kids are diagnosed with Childhood Cancer. By days end 7 kids will have earned their ^^Angel Wings^^. This is a display The JEB Foundation has erected to help raise awareness to the fact that to many of our children are being taken away by this horrible disease. Each Gold Ribbon represents a child diagnosed with cancer each day. Seven are draped with black sashes to symbolize the 7 kids that will die from cancer by days end. Please help us continue to  raise awareness for our kids by making a tax deductible donation to The JEB Foundation.

Purple Sunday May 3, 2009

As many of you who know us or have followed John Eric and his story on Carepages, John Eric always wore his Ravens Ed Reed Jersey on Sundays. John Eric was well known throughout the hospital, not only for his Ravens binky, but for wearing his jersey on gameday.  John Eric and I (Daddy) even went to Training Camp before he was diagnosed.
After John Eric earned his Angel Wings, Alisha & I were in Great Moments, a sports memorabilia store in Westminster, and were talking to the owner about the best way to go about getting Ed Reed to autograph John Eric's jersey so that we could frame it and hang it in his room. We obviously didn't want to have to mail it and take the chance of it getting lost since it is so sentimental to us. He put us in touch with the gentlemen that runs Ed Reed's website and handles his personal appearances. I told him John Eric's story and he was more then willing to help us out.
Well, today was the day, Ed Reed was making an appearance and we got the chance to meet him and we got  John Eric's Jersey autographed.
It was a very emotional day for all involved.

Thank You Ed Reed and Brad Schwartz for making this happen. GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Host A Band-Aid Drive

March 5, 2009

Did you know that Fun, Colorful Band-Aids are not provided by most hospitals to their pediatrac departments and clinics? They have to either be donated or taken out of the budget of the child life department. Treatments in the hospital and Hem/Onc Clinics can be very overwhelming for many children. Often it's the little things such as a shiny, fun, colorful band-aid that can make many procedures seem not so scary.

Please join The JEB Foundation in hosting a Band-Aid Drive in your area.

For Information on how to have your own event, please visit www.teamsuperbay.orgfor all the deatails.

Help our Good Friend Bailey and his family The Spoonies, make the everyday lives of the all to many brave children , battling Cancer and other ailments , just a little bit brighter, "One Band-Aid at a Time".
